Sylvia Nabukenya-Kazooba

Sylvia Nabukenya-Kazooba is a senior regulatory and compliance officer at the Infectious Diseases Institute, College of health sciences, Makerere University. She holds a bachelor's degree in Biomedical sciences and a master's degree in Bioethics, and nearly completing her PhD at Makerere University College of Health Sciences. Sylvia has a growing passion for ethics in health technologies including the use of AI in health research, ethics of genetic and genomic research, and community engagement in low resource settings.

She is also a member of the School of biomedical sciences Research ethics committee. She is currently leading a project entitled, “Developing a guide for ethical review of AI-related research proposals in low resource settings.
